Meerkats Using Photographer to Get a Better View
This amusing video of meerkats using photographer to get a better view will warm your heart in no time. The beautiful images were caught by wildlife photographer Will Burrard-Lucas after he spent six days with the quirky new families in the Makgadikgadi region of Botswana. Will has photographed Meerkats in the past and was delighted when he realized he would be shooting new arrivals.

ABOUT THE MEERKAT
The meerkat is a small mammal belonging to the mongoose family. Meerkats live in all parts of the Kalahari Desert in Botswana, in much of the Namib Desert in Namibia and southwestern Angola, and in South Africa. A group of meerkats is called a “mob”, “gang” or “clan”. A meerkat clan often contains about 20 meerkats, but some super-families have 50 or more members. In captivity, meerkats have an average life span of 12–14 years, and about half this in the wild.

I would let one perch on my camera lens too! How cute! Thanks Jeannie. Jon
Always loved those nature shows with Meerkats. So cute, naughty, curious and quite amazing how they fight cobras…and kill ’em! Thanks Jeanne.

“Adorable” is an understatement! I started watching the video, then had to restart it because my son walked into the room and wanted to see it too. Can’t you just see the wheels in the little meerkat’s head working as he figures out how to get from the photographer’s back, to the top of the camera? I love it!
Aww, I love the meerkat in the 2nd picture! So tame!
thanks for info. the video was informative.
OMG how cute are they!? I always love seeing those little critters.
